Coaching and Volunteering

The Pakmen Volleyball Club, the only club in the GTA accredited with both the OVA and Volleyball Canada, encompasses players and staff from all socio-economic, ethnic and cultural groups, as well as players and staff with special needs. They serve Mississauga and the surrounding area, including Etobicoke, Brampton, Milton and Oakville. The Club’s mandate is to provide a supportive, inclusive environment that will enable athletes and coaches alike to achieve their volleyball goals as well as grow as individuals. We are constantly looking for coaches for our rep teams, and occasionally for our house league programs.
Rep Teams
As a rep Pakmen coach you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and be supported by an experienced cadre of coaches who have a broad depth of volleyball experience at all levels from OVA rep to CIS, to International. If you are interested in an opportunity to join the Pakmen coaching fraternity, please contact head coach Orest Stanko at [email protected]
Volunteers
Our programs are run by professional volleyball coaches who have many years of experience playing and/or coaching the sport. We do accept volunteer coaches, who work under the direction of our professional coaches. Our volunteers normally volunteer at our Pakmen Volleyball Camp during the summer (July and August), our March Break Camp, and Spikes during the school year (October to June). Volunteers must be in high school and have some background in volleyball e.g. played in one of our Pakmen programs, or at school, etc. Please read the FAQs below.
  • How old do I have to be in order to volunteer?

In order to volunteer, you must be in grade 9 for Spikes and entering into grade 10 for the Summer Volleyball Camp. This is strictly enforced.

  • Do volunteers have to be students?

All of our volunteers must be attending (or continuing) high school or post-secondary school (university or college) in order to be volunteers.

  • What do you expect from our volunteers?

Our volunteers not only represent our club, but they are role models. Our players look up to them. Therefore, we expect all of our staff, regardless of whether they are volunteers or not, to lead by example. For example, our staff should be eager to interact with the kids, give tips and encouragement during drills and games, and most importantly, be responsible and mature.

  • Who could be my references?

Your references could be teachers at school, a coach, or from someone who supervised you at past volunteer positions. References cannot be parents or family members.

  • How do I apply?

Please fill out the form completely. You can send the form by scanning it and emailing it to [email protected] We will contact you when we have an opening available. A cover letter / resume is optional. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
