Volleyball for Boys – Pakmen Plus
Pakmen Plus is an advanced volleyball league for boys in Grades 7-8 and 9-12 who are members of their school team or who already have very good volleyball skills. Participants will get the chance to train and compete with peers with similar interests.
Volleyball is a great sport that teaches young athletes the fundamentals of teamwork, leadership and skill building. Our programs will help enhance physical literacy and provide your child with the skills and confidence to enjoy volleyball for life.
The weekly volleyball program is either two hours (Grades 7-8 and 9-12) or one and a half hours (Grades 5-6) long and is split between a focus on instruction and game play. Skills and instruction will consist of passing, serving, hitting and defensive skill improvement.Pakmen Plus is headed up by our rep coaches. Each participant will receive an official Pakmen T-shirt.*Please note that this program is not for beginners. Players in this program should have well-founded volleyball skills such as:
– Serve over the net consistently – Pass a ball to the target – Have good movement to the ball to keep it in play
Please note that Pakmen players in Grade 5-6 who have completed their Gold winit certificate, or have been recommended by a coach on their “What’s Next” report, will also qualify to be in Pakmen Plus.
Many Pakmen Plus players also register for the Middle / High School Volleyball Leagues!
Staff will be supervising check-in at the front door for each program. They will ask health screening questions to ensure no one with COVID symptoms enters the building and collect data to enable contact tracing. Only players will be permitted in the facility to ensure smaller numbers (no parents or spectators). The exception is Canlan Sports where one parent per child will be permitted inside the facility. Pakmen staff will conduct temperature checks when players enter the volleyball courts. Hand sanitizing stations will be placed around the venue and athletes and staff will wash their hands regularly. Coaches will wear masks at all times. Players will have to follow the latest Ministry of Health/Ontario Volleyball guidelines with regards to wearing masks during physical activity. Physical distancing of 2m will be enforced during these times. Volleyballs will be sanitized regularly.
