Programs for Players on School Teams or Trying out for REP Teams for the First Time
Tryouts for rep teams are held during the two week ‘tryout window’ dates set by the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA). These dates have not yet been announced by the OVA but are usually held in September each year.
Players who have never played rep volleyball before are encouraged to improve upon their volleyball skills as much as possible over the summer months.
One excellent option is enrolling in one of more sessions of our new School Team Athlete Training Program, which is a weekly two our training session for athletes who play on school teams. Each 2 hour session will focus exclusively on developing individual athlete skills. If possible, the player should supplement this with a program which involves a lot of game play e.g. GTA Premier League (girls) or Pakmen Plus (boys), or the Middle School or High School Volleyball Leagues.
Another option is our Summer Volleyball Camp for younger players (grades 6 to 8). Players will get at least 30 hours of volleyball training in a single week.
Our Advantage Camps/Pre-tryout Camps held in late August are also good options.
Most of our advanced programs are for Rep players only. Many school team athletes have expressed a desire for more advanced training but our club has offered few opportunities for this, if you are not already on a rep team. We feel this new program will fill that void.
School Team Athlete Training Program is Advanced Training for athletes who play on school teams and want to get better alongside athletes of similar abilities. Each two hour session will focus on individual skill development. This program is designed for maximum individual improvement.
Pakmen’s professional coaching staff will offer challenging progressive drills and provide constant feedback.
This program is recommended for players who want to be the best they can be playing on their school team, or even to prepare them for trying out for a rep team.
