Stanko to Coach U17 Gold Boys

  • August 26, 2015

Pakmen Volleyball is pleased to announce volleyball coaching legend Orest Stanko as head coach for the U17 Gold boys team for the upcoming 2014-2015 competitive season. Stanko is currently acting as one of the senior coaches at the Ontario Volleyball Association’s High Performance Centre helping Ontario’s top male athletes qualify for the Provincial team. He just concluded his first season with Pakmen coaching U15 Gold, our club’s most improved team.

Stanko is the ‘winningest’ coach in OUA history and is widely respected not only for his ability to develop athletes (he put multiple players on the National team) but to motivate players to always train and compete at their very best. Ontario Canada Summer Games head coach and former National team player Jeff Chung will assist Stanko working with the setters/liberos/hitters. Chung is a highly respected technical coach who played for Stanko at U of T before being selected to the National team.

“We are thrilled Orest has accepted this position. He is the ideal person to help our senior athletes develop their skills so that they can compete at the highest levels e.g., Provincial team, Canada Games Team, OUA and National team and help our club strengthen the LTAD model and ensure international excellence for Pakmen athletes” commented Pakmen Club President, Kelly Smith.

Pakmen will offer two teams at the U17 age group for the 2014-15 competitive season. Tryouts begin the week of September 8th
