Beginner Volleyball Lessons
Small-group volleyball lessons give beginners the repetitions, instruction and individual feedback they need to build their skills and confidence.
Learning volleyball can be challenging when a player is completely new to the sport. Passing, setting, serving and attacking all require specific techniques, and beginners often improve much faster when a coach can watch them closely and provide immediate feedback.
That is exactly what Pakmen Volleyball's Technique Tutoring program is designed to do.
Technique Tutoring is a small-group volleyball lesson program for beginner boys and girls in Grades 6–12.
It is particularly well suited to players who are too old for our younger Spikes Learn-to-Play program, or players who simply learn better in a smaller group environment.
Volleyball is a technical sport. Before players can become comfortable playing in games, they need to learn how to perform the fundamental skills correctly.
Technique Tutoring classes maintain a low player-to-coach ratio, with a maximum of six players in a class. This gives coaches more opportunities to observe each player, correct their technique and provide regular feedback.
Players are also able to perform a large number of repetitions. Repeating each skill with proper instruction helps beginners develop better technique and become more comfortable controlling the ball.
A maximum of six players per class gives athletes more individual attention from their coach.
Players spend more of their training time actively performing volleyball skills rather than waiting in long lines.
Coaches can identify technical mistakes early and help players develop proper habits.
No advanced volleyball experience is required. The program is designed specifically for players who are still learning the game.
Technique Tutoring focuses on developing the fundamental skills players need to enjoy volleyball and eventually participate confidently in league play.
Players work on skills such as passing, setting, serving and attacking while receiving instruction and feedback throughout each session. As their ability improves, they become more comfortable controlling the volleyball and using those skills in game situations.
Technique Tutoring is designed for beginner boys and girls in Grades 6–12.
It is an excellent starting point for a player who has little volleyball experience, did not make a school team, wants to improve before trying out for a team, or simply prefers learning in a smaller group environment.
Younger beginners may also want to explore Spikes Learn-to-Play, Pakmen's introductory volleyball program for younger athletes.
Technique Tutoring is designed to give beginners the foundation they need to progress into league play.
After developing their skills through Technique Tutoring, players may be ready to move into Pakmen's Development League, where instruction is combined with structured game play.
The goal is not simply to teach individual volleyball skills, but to give players the skills and confidence they need to continue enjoying and progressing in the sport.
For older beginners, starting volleyball in a large league or competitive environment can sometimes feel intimidating. Technique Tutoring provides a more comfortable introduction to the sport while still giving players the instruction and repetitions they need to improve.
With small classes, regular coaching feedback and a focus on proper technique, players can build a strong foundation before progressing to the next level of volleyball.
