GTA Premier League for Girls Keeps Growing

  • October 27, 2015

It was almost ten years ago that Pakmen started the GTA Premier League – a high quality volleyball league for girls who also played on their school teams.  The league was designed for girls who did not have the time or desire to commit to rep volleyball but still loved the game so much that they wanted to play for the entire school year, instead of just 3 months.

The league was selling out each year, and many girls were left disappointed on a wait list.  This year, we added a third age group, so instead of the traditional grade 7&8 and 9 to 12 age groups, the girls are now competing in separate grade 7&8, 9&10 and 11&12 leagues.  We made the teams slightly smaller, 9 players from 10, so everyone gets to play more.

We have also built a website, specifically for this program, www.gtapremierleague.com so players can visit to find out how their team stacks up against the other teams in the league and who they will be competing against the following week.GTA premier league banner

“This is the only program of its kind anywhere in Ontario, if not Canada”, boasts club president Kelly Smith.  “And the coaching staff is second to none with coaches of the likes of Jessy Satti (National Champion/Team Canada coach), Victoria Altomare (National team), Daniel Dearing (National team), Karim Khalil (York University assistant coach), Kadeem Clarke (2-time National Champion) to name a few”.

The grade 9-10 league is almost sold out but there are some spots left in the grade 7&8 and 11&12 league.  The only requirement is you have to have a lot of experience playing the game and already be a proficient player (e.g. played on your school team).
