Sheridan Welcomes New Pakmen Recruits

The Sheridan Bruins have announced the signing of freshmen Chris Adams and Justin Kong for the 2013-2014 season. Both players were members of the under-18 team this past year.

Dave McAllister took over the Head Coach position at Sheridan after a six year stint with the McMaster Marauders. Since becoming head coach, McAllister has had success with landing Ontario’s top recruits. “I am very excited to have both Justin and Chris come to Sheridan. They will fit right into the program,” said McAllister. “They are hard working young men who are solid academically and who want to get better and want to be coached.”

After a successful career with Pakmen, Adams was sure about his future plans with volleyball. He was hooked on attending Sheridan right from the get-go. “I knew Sheridan would have a competitive team no matter what with [Dave] McAllister coaching. “The school is close to home, so I can save some money if I decide to attend university after.”

After losing all three setters from last year, Kong is touted to go into his rookie year as the a starter “He has good hands,” said Bruins Head Coach Dave McAllister. “He will learn very quickly the offensive responsibilities and system.”

For Kong attending Sheridan was as much of an academic decision, as it was athletic. “I was really drawn to Sheridan by the joint program with U of T for chemical engineering,”said Kong. “ I felt that getting my degree in five years while having the chance to play volleyball for Sheridan would give me the balance I was looking for.”

This announcement makes the 2013 graduating class one Pakmen’s most successful yet, with 8 players continuing their volleyball careers at a post-secondary institution.

Pakmen continues to be a large part of the Bruins’ recruiting success. Last year the Sheridan Bruins roster included 6 former Pakmen graduates.

Congratulations boys! The Pakmen family wishes you all the best in the future!
