Volleyball Canada announces Centre of Excellence partnership with Pakmen Volleyball

  • August 26, 2015

Volleyball Canada will partner with Pakmen Volleyball club, one of only three OVA accredited clubs in Ontario to deliver a Volleyball Canada Centre of Excellence (VCCE) in the Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke & Mississauga area.

The VCCE program is designed specifically to prepare athletes who are committed to the sport of volleyball and preparing to pursue their volleyball career. While training individual athlete skill development, the Centre of Excellence is the ideal complement to the high school and club system.

By focusing on any committed athlete ready to take their game to the next level, the VCCE Pakmen will ensure high performance development for the athletes in this area. Committed high school and club athletes will benefit from the training received in their Centre. While the training is based specifically on individual skill development, a very low coach to athlete ratio allows for lots of personal feedback, ball contacts and progress for athlete success.

Kelly Smith, President of Pakmen Volleyball, ‘is excited to be part of the VCCE and we look forward to contributing to the development of these highly skilled athletes.’

VCCE Pakmen will be led by quality coaches with CIS/CCAA experience and will work with Volleyball Canada VCCE leadership team, OVA Indoor Development Coach along with other guest coaches to provide coaching services, including integrated strength and conditioning to the athletes.

With the expansion of VCCE throughout Canada, Pakmen was an ideal club to work with. The accreditation process has established excellence in club development and the VCCE will ensure high performance athletes are benefitting from a national program. The commitment to quality coaching staff, accessibility for all athletes and excellent program design ensure a sustainable model is in place for future development, stated Dawna Sales, VCCE Program Manager.

The Sunday program will start in October and continue for 28 weeks through to June of 2015.

The program will start with an assessment/tryout on Sunday, Oct 5th:

Girls: 9am-10:30am Boy: 5:30pm-7pm

Location: West Credit Secondary School, 6325 Montevideo Road, Mississauga Assessment

Fee: $10, payable on site Ages: 14U-18U

Registration will be open to committed, club level athletes. After the October 5th assessment, athletes will be divided into training groups and invited into the VCCE. Program fees and training times (Sunday ONLY) will be determined based on the invitation/stream.
