Danny Ly Commits to Graceland University

2013 Pakmen graduate Danny Ly has recently announced his commitment to Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Ly, a versatile player, attracted the attention of several university coaches in Ontario and the United States this year. But when it came to making a decision, Graceland was an easy choice.

“Graceland was a good fit for me,” said Ly. “It has a very well-known program in Athletic Training which I plan to pursue. I’ve met great people there, and I feel like the competitive ball will keep me motivated through school.”

The Yellowjackets compete in the competitive Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) which also includes schools from neighbouring states Kansas and Missouri. Of the 950 students who attend the Lamoni Campus, two-thirds are student athletes.

The experience will be a new one for Ly.

“The people there and the atmosphere they create is very unique,” said Ly. “I’ve never experienced a small town before. People treat each other with the utmost respect, and I really find that something I can enjoy.”

“Danny is Mr. Versatile. He can play libero, he swings hard, and his serving is phenomenal,” said Head Coach Kelly Smith. “He’s a smart player and brings a ton of energy every time he steps on the court.”

When asked about his greatest accomplishment as a player, Ly mentions winning both the u16 provincial championships and the national championship in 2011.

Way to go Danny! The Pakmen family is proud of you!
