FIVB Men’s World Championship 2022

The 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship was the 20th tournament in the history of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. The competition started on August 26 and lasted until September 21 in 2022. The tournament took place in Poland and Slovenia.
The 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship brought together the world’s best 24 men’s national volleyball teams. Among the teams that participated in the tournament are: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameron, Canada, China, Cuba, Germany, Italy, Iran, Egypt, Japan, France, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Slovenia, Tunisia, Turkey, Qatar, Ukraine as well as the United States.
Initially, the tournament was planned to be held in Russia. However, due to the Russia invasion of Ukraine, FIVB changed its decision later. As a result, Russia lost its hosting rights. Poland and Slovenia were selected as the hosts for the 2022 Men’s World Championship.
The matches of the tournament were played in such cities as Katowice and Gliwice in Poland and Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Pools Composition
Volleyball teams that participated in the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship were divided into 6 pools. Each of pools consisted of 4 teams.
– Puerto Rico, Serbia, Tunisia and Ukraine played in Pool A.
– Brazil, Cuba, Japan and Qatar played in Pool B.
– Bulgaria, Mexico, Poland and the United States played in Pool C.
– Cameron, Germany, France and Slovenia played in Pool D.
– Canada, China, Italy and Turkey played in Pool E.
– Argentina, Egypt, Iran and the Netherlands played in Pool F.
Preliminary Round of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship
Pool A
Serbia won 3 games and lost no games in Pool A. The team took the 1-st place in pool A.
Ukraine won 2 games and lost 1 game in Pool A. The team took the 2-nd place in pool A.
Tunisia won 1 game and lost 2 games in Pool A. The team took the 3-rd place in pool A.
Puerto Rico lost 3 games in pool A. The team took the 4-th place in pool A.
Pool B
Brazil won 3 games and lost no games in pool B. The team took the 1-st place in pool B.
Japan won 2 games and lost 1 game in pool B. The team took the 2-nd place in pool B.
Cuba won 1 game and lost 2 games in pool B. The team took the 3-rd place in pool B.
Qatar lost 3 games and won no games in pool B. The team took the 4-th place in pool B.
Pool C
Poland won 3 games and lost no games in pool C. The team took the 1-st place in pool C.
United States won 2 games and lost 1 game in pool C. The team took the 2-nd place in pool C.
Mexico won 1 game and lost 2 games in pool C. The team took the 3-rd place in pool C.
Bulgaria won no games and lost 3 games in pool C. The team took the 4-th place in pool C.
Pool D
France won 3 games and lost no games in pool D. The team took the 1-st place in pool D.
Slovenia won 2 games and lost 1 game in pool D. The team took the 2-nd place in pool D.
Germany won 1 game and lost 2 games in pool D. The team took the 3-rd place in pool D.
Cameroon won no games and lost 3 games in pool D. The team took the 4-th place in pool D.
Pool E
Italy won 3 games and lost no games in pool E. The team took the 1-st place in pool E.
Turkey won 2 games and lost 1 game in pool E. The team took the 2-nd place in pool E.
Canada won 1 game and lost 2 games in pool E. The team took the 3-rd place in pool E.
China won no games and lost 3 games in pool E. The team took the 4-th place in pool E.
Pool F
Netherlands won 3 games and lost no games in pool F. The team took the 1-st place in pool F.
Iran won 2 games and lost 1 game in pool F. The team took the 2-nd place in pool F.
Argentina won 1 game and lost 2 games in pool F. The team took the 3-rd place in pool F.
Egypt won no games and lost 3 games in pool F. The team took the 4-th place in pool F.
Round of 16
Among the teams that reached the round of 16 are: Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Italy, Iran, Japan, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States.
Poland defeated Tunisia 3 – 0 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
The United States defeated Turkey 3 – 2 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Argentina defeated Serbia 3 – 0 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Brazil defeated Iran 3 – 0 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Slovenia defeated Germany 3 – 1 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Ukraine defeated the Netherlands 3 – 0 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Italy defeated Cuba 3 – 1 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
France defeated Japan 3 – 2 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Quarterfinals
Poland defeated the United States 3 – 2 and reached the semifinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Brazil defeated Argentina 3 – 1 and reached the semifinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Slovenia defeated Ukraine 3 – 1 and reached the semifinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Italy defeated France 3 – 2 and reached the semifinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Semifinals
Poland defeated Brazil 3 – 2 and reached the finals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Italy defeated Slovenia 3 – 0 and reached the finals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Final
Italy defeated Poland 3 – 1 in the final match of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. As a result, Italy earned the Gold medal and Poland earned the Bronze medal.
The 3-rd Place Match
Brazil defeated Slovenia 3 – 1 in the 3-rd place match of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. As a result, Brazil earned the Bronze medal and Slovenia took the 4-th place in the competition.
