I recently came across an interesting article, “Vitamin D – A Key Player in Boned Heath, Sports Performance and Recovery”, written by Dr. Emily Kraus.

In the article, Kraus makes the case for the importance Vitamin D.  As athletes regularly push their limits while stressing their bodies, it is important to make sure to keep up with your vitamin dosage. Vitamin D often referred to as the ‘Sunshine Vitamin’, is one commonly missed by athletes. Numerous studies have shown the positive effects of Vitamin D on sports performance, muscle recovery, bone health and the immune system. It can be obtained through sun exposure, daily diet and supplementation pills.

For most school calendar year sports landing in fall and winter, rain and snow makes it challenging for athletes to get outdoors. Are you getting enough Vitamin D?
